If you’re anything like me, and I think you are because I’m self-centered and think everyone thinks like me, then you’re still a little upset about the death of Amy Winehouse. You may have even got a little misty eyed watching that video tribute on the VMAs (then you got really confused and asked “Why?” when you saw that asshole Bruno Mars cover Amy’s cover of Valerie and not do it any justice).
Just as promised, the duet that Amy recorded with one of her heroes, Tony Bennett is finally being released. Body and Soul, recorded on March 23, 2011 was released today along with its video. This duet is the final recording that Amy ever made in her short 27 years of life. Today, September 14, would have marked her 28th birthday.
Also launching today, is the Amy Winehouse Foundatio which was set up by the Winehouse family and close friends. Their ultimate goal is to reach out to and benefit young people around the world. Her family has stated, numerous times, that Amy cared deeply for children and this foundation will strive to support causes that were important to her. Proceeds from the sales of Body & Soul will ultimately go to the foundation in support of said causes.
