Gabe Berezin of Monuments – Live Review

Posted on by Layton Weedeman

If Bon Iver and Queens of the Stone Age had a baby, it would be Gabe Berezin of Monuments. A very large baby. Standing over six feet tall wearing jeans, biker boots, and a beard only adds to the name and sound his music carries.

I’ve known Gabe for quite some time now and Monuments are definitely not newbie’s to Blaqbook readers. I was fortunate enough to see him perform a solo set this past Wednesday after Dan Abraham’s. Having done a fair amount of touring with Monuments while being on the road with Courtesy Tier, I can say that probably some of my favorite times on the road were with this guy and sharing the stage each night.

His music runs deep in rich guitar and vocal textures with steady rhythmic changes keeping the weight of each song moving in ease. Heavy not lite.

Check out his stuff here and catch his next performance August 21 at Rockwood.
