It’s Wednesday, a day that’s either the beginning to a long weekend or a reason to bitch about the work week. Instead of bitching or starting the weekend early, why not combine the two: complain about the week at a bar while you enjoy some rad music? The opportunity to do so is available tonight at Bruar Falls, why not take it?
Phil-wave or chill-wave or whatever the fuck you want to call them, Golden Ages is a band worth checking out. Silly genre names aside, Golden Ages have been blowing up Philly for the past year with a relaxed, yet appropriately dance-y take on whatever wave of music they fall into. Golden Ages will simultaneously make you feel relaxed and induce you to move your feet, if that’s at all possible.
On the other end of the electronic music spectrum, Brooklyn’s Infernal Devices wants to make you dance. But think a lot more Depeche Mode and 80s synth-pop awesomeness, and a lot less 00s recession dance jams. I’m pretty high on Infernal Devices right now; take up-tempo Junior Boys and Violator-era Depeche Mode, blend in some disco with pop hooks and you have Infernal Devices. Get ready to move your feet.
Infernal Devices plays at 10pm. Golden Ages plays at 11pm. Doors at 7pm. The show is at Bruar Falls.
$10 at the door. 21+
