This past weekend, our friends over at Big Apple BBQ were kind enough to give me media passes to check out the protein filled festivities. While the weather was rainy and humid, people still came out in droves. My friend Brandon over at bloodybloody.com tagged along with me to chow down before we headed down to Atlantic City to wreak havoc on the casino floors. While the event itself was crowded as hell, with and lines that seemed to have no end, I was grateful we had a pass.

First stop? Blue Smoke. It was the shortest line, not because they aren’t good, but because their restaurant is only a couple of blocks from the event. Ribs, delicious perfectly peppered and not too fat laden. The pickled veggies added a nice touch as well. We had contemplated going back in line for another round, but decided not to look like complete fat asses and moved on.

Next Stop, Ubon’s Barbecue of Yazoo from Mississippi. Pulled Pork sandwich? Yes please! Delicate pieces of Pork with a sauce that had a hint of sweetness. The coleslaw was forgettable, but who really eats coleslaw anyway?

Last stop, Ed Mitchell from Raleigh North Carolina. They had pulled pork sandwiches and pulled turkey. We decided on the turkey sandwich. Could have used a little more seasoning, but overall a super moist and tasty piece of meat.
We were on a tight schedule, so these were the only three places we could stop off at. Thanks so much for the people at Big Apple BBQ and all the vendors who traveled down for the festivities! We will be sure to check out more stuff next year.
