This past Sunday I stopped by Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg with some friends to do a little shopping. Well, the fat kid in me instinctively headed straight to the food section. It was undoubtedly swarming with masses of people. Some already in food comas, others agitated until they got their fix, and most just straight up gawking at the selection.
My mouth started watering…oh man.. where do I start my Sunday binge? After walking round a couple of times I started getting a little dizzy. Then I saw the booth. A glorious display of shiny, plump, and juicy doughnuts, drizzled with all sorts of ridiculous icings. Passion Fruit, Hibiscus, Tres Leches, Café Au Lait, Apple Tart, and Lemon Poppy. Plus more that already got sold out. I asked the guy behind the counter the most popular one. He pointed to the Lemon Poppy. Sold! For two dollars!
This thing was enormous. About the size of a childs head, I didn’t know whether to eat or play Mr.Potato with it. One bite- like eating a cloud. Super airy, fluffy and chewy, not too sweet and not too tart with just the right amount of poppy. About 5 seconds later the whole thing was gone.
They arn’t as filling or as dense as Doughnut Plant doughnuts, but they sure do have the right flavors down without having to trek all the way to the LES. Dough also has a store in Clinton Hill off of the G stop. But if you are at Brooklyn Flea this weekend- I highly recommend grabbing a couple of theses babies before leaving.
