The other night, Justin and a couple of our friends were bike riding and undoubtedly worked up a bit of an appetite. We had been coming back from an interview and one of the guys mentioned how good the burger from Five Leaves was. This got us all hot and heavy thinking about a big juicy piece of meat and we headed straight over to the restaurant.
15 minutes after we ordered, the beauty was placed in front of me. Oh, this thing was huge. I ordered the Five Leaves Burger ($15) which came with a fried pineapple ring, house pickled beets, harissa mayo, and one sunny-up egg. I ordered it medium rare, and it was ridiculously moist. My hands were covered in juicy burger goodness, and extra napkins were definitely needed. The pineapple and beets added a great crunch and sweetness which actually went very well with the meat. The fries that came with it were not memorable and its sole purpose for me was so I could dip it in the extra harissa mayo. Without looking like a complete fat ass ( though I was dipping fries in mayo…but still).
We went on a Sunday night at around 10 pm but the was still pretty lively and packed with hipsters. After getting home, I passed out and the next morning I didn’t have breakfast or lunch, apparently my burger coma had left me full for 3 meals straight.
