A couple of days ago I headed over to Saint Alps to grab a light dinner and drink before heading out to see a show. The only other time I had been to this place was in the East Village, enjoying some pretty good food for decent prices. I figured why not grab a bite at the Brooklyn spot? Well, no surprise by my post title — it was a bad idea.
Just look at the picture. What a pathetic looking bowl of beef noodle soup this was for $6. The hard boiled egg looked like it’s been rotting in the broth. The only edible looking thing I ate was the bok choy. The noodles were limp, overly cooked and mushy. I was scared to eat the beef, since it looked like it could carry some diseases. I would rather wipe my ass with six dollars than spend it on this “food” again.
I also ordered a melon yogurt tea for $3.25. Basically a sugar flavored slushy. Awesome, I could have made this at home.
Shame on you Saint Alps. With all of the other options for food in Williamsburg, I really don’t know how this restaurant is still open. I haven’t been to the location in East Village for some time so hopefully their quality is still up to par from the last time.
